Opposition chairwoman to visit U.S. in late May

Taipei, May 8 (CNA) Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen (???) will depart May 29 for a 12-day visit to the United States, where she will meet with government officials, lawmakers and think tank experts, the party said Friday. Tsai, who was vice premier from January 2006 to May 2007, was nominated in mid-April as her party's candidate for the 2016 presidential election. Tsai will visit Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, New York, Houston and San Francisco, and will deliver a talk at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the U.S. capital.
