Indonesian spouse builds up her savings by keeping accounts

An Indonesian woman going by the Chinese surname of Chiu fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher and saved over NT$200,000 after joining the financial management class of the Pearl S. Buck Foundation.

Chiu hailed from a wealthy family in Indonesia, so she never worried about money, and after coming to Taiwan, she often spent out all the allowance her husband gave her in a few days. After she gave birth to her second son, she tried to increase the income, so she worked a few part-time jobs. She signed up for the financial management class of the Pearl S. Buck Foundation in 2012, saved up a great amount of money through the six-month course, and was hired as an instructor by the foundation to share her experience. She also passed the High Court exam to work as a translator. Chiu’s life has changed because of the habit of keeping accounts.
