National Cheng Kung University launches Vietnam culture week

National Cheng Kung University’s Vietnam Culture Week will take place on May 8 and May 10, held by the Vietnam Student Association. The Vietnam Culture week has a nine-year history at the university, and the topic of this year is Love River. The organizers hope the Vietnam stories could be told in Taiwan from now on.

The Vietnam Week started at Cheng Kung University in 2006, and it has turned into a traditional event for the Vietnamese students in Taiwan. Through the theme of Love River, the students want to introduce the spirit of Vietnam Student Association, which is intimacy and adoration.

The first day of the activity will introduce Vietnamese food and traditional games. Vietnamese cuisine includes the Vietnamese bun, spring rolls, coffee, and sweet soup. Traditional games include throwing the ball on the log bridge, throwing the bamboo circle, bamboo dance, arrow blowing and the slingshot.

The activity of the second day is held in the evening with indoor shows, such as the Tally Card Songs from northern Vietnam, dances from central Vietnam and the Southern local music. The Vietnamese wedding traditions, rituals, and dresses will also be displayed.
