New immigrant volunteers tell story in New Taipei library

New Taipei City is now recruiting new immigrant story teller volunteers, and provides 17,500 books in the immigrant section which includes Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, Burmese, Korean, and Japanese books.

To help the children get to know the foreign cultures, the library provides a story teller training course, inviting the new immigrants to tell the stories of their hometown. By knowing the stories from different cultures, the children will be able to respect the cultural differences and understand the new immigrant culture.

The course of “story teller training” is targeting the new immigrant residents, and recruiting them as volunteers, hoping to improve the reading habits of the immigrant families by the project.
