MADRID (AP) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi has met with Spain's King Felipe and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy for talks expected to center on combatting jihadi terrorism and improving bilateral economic links during his first-ever visit to Spain.
El-Sissi, accompanied by several ministers, met with the king at the Zarzuela Palace on Thursday and later met with Rajoy at the Moncloa Palace government headquarters.
A government statement said Rajoy and el-Sissi would also discuss migration and the conflicts in Libya, Syria and Yemen, as well as the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
El-Sissi also held talks with Spanish and Egyptian business leaders Thursday.
El-Sissi led the 2013 military ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and later was elected as a civilian president.
