Cultural pluralism talk held at Chung Yuan Christian University

Cultural pluralism talk held at Chung Yuan Christian University

It is never enough to make new immigrant families happy in Taiwan by just having them unilaterally accept Taiwanese culture. It takes bilateral understanding of each other to be so. The National Immigration Agency Taoyuan Office and Chung Yuan Christian University held a multiculturalism talk, hoping that cultural pluralism be put into practice on campus.

The Indonesian translator at the Taiwan High Court and the president of the Taoyuan New Immigrant Care Association shared their experiences as new immigrants living in Taiwan. The 150 students in the talks learned to embrace and respect the differences between groups.

Lin Wan-yee, the chief of the service stations, said it is crucial to educate the public with the knowledge to respect different cultures, and by the event, he hopes people will understand and respect cross-cultural relationships and gender equality.
