Cook book written by Taiwanese housewife and new immigrants

The Taiwan International Family Association and the Social Affairs Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government held a new book launch of ’Recipes of a Taiwanese grandma and new immigrant sisters’. Immigrants from Southeast Asian countries gathered together and cooked the local food, while the Taiwanese grandmas also prepared Taiwanese dishes at the event.
Chef of the Taiwan International Family Association Chang Yu-hua said that he accidentally finds that a Taiwanese grandma was making rice dumplings on Dragon Boat Festival and the Vietnamese immigrants were making Vietnamese rice dumplings by her side, exchanging their cooking ideas. This made him want to publish a book related to the housewives from different countries. The book is a cooking recipe book but reveals idea of history, social class, groups, gender and culture.
The authors of the book come from Taiwan, China and Southeast Asia. The new immigrants said that they are not only introducing the home dishes to the public, but also telling the public about their homesick feelings.
