Sudden rains trigger flooding in Philippines

Heavy rains Tuesday afternoon triggered knee-deep floods in Quezon City and caused traffic jams on major thoroughfares. The Flood Control Information Center (FCIC) of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said rainfall of 35 mm per hour affected portions of Quezon City between 2 and 3 pm, according to Tempo News.
Flood waters subsided after 30 minutes as the sudden rains stopped. But the MMDA said slow moving traffic was monitored at Cubao and Kamuning along Edsa and portions of Commonwealth during afternoon rush hour when most motorists and commuters were on their way home.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that some areas in Quezon City experienced hail storms due to the effects of the thunderstorm.
