Seeing Taiwan from an exchange student’s respective

Isabella Castillo, a Panamanian student from Taipei Technical University, has been living in Taiwan for one and a half year, noticing many interesting cultures and habits of Taiwanese people.
Castillo said, many of her friends like to take pictures of the food when they eat out, and upload the pictures on Facebook. She didn't realize what was going on when everyone stopped to take the pictures in the middle of the meal. She is also amazed by the efforts of Taiwanese girls on sun protection. Like putting on sunscreen, wearing long sleeves and using the parasol. Besides, the traditions in the seventh month of the Lunar calendar, known as Ghost Month, are also interesting to her. “I am a Catholic, so I am not afraid of those traditions,” said Castillo.
She signed up for the scholarship program here because of her interest in learning Mandarin. In winning the scholarship, she fulfilled her dream of studying in Taipei, and said she really likes it here because of the hospitality of the Taiwanese people.
