College students help new immigrant achieve her dreams

Going to college is a pipe dream for new immigrant Chang Li-na, who married and moved to Taiwan from Indonesia, and is now working in a bicycle factory. The social work students from Tunghai University helped her fulfill her dreams to experience one day of college life.
Chang is an overseas Chinese, who gave up school and moved to Taiwan for economic reasons. Learning English has always been her biggest dream, but her diploma from her country isn’t certified by the Taiwanese government. Eager to get a better job, she uses leisure time to study.
The social work students from Tunghai University heard about Chang’s story. They had interviews with her, and invited her to the intermediate English class.
Chen Yi-che, a student at the social work department, indicated that Chang has shown her kids a very motivating attitude toward learning, and another student, Hsu Hsiang-cai said, Chang has already signed up for the course at the Open University, putting her dreams into fruition.
