Picture book tells the love of immigrant mothers

Picture book tells the love of immigrant mothers

With a high proportion of new immigrant offspring, the Shin Dong Elementary School administrator has recently published a picture book named Mahogany Mothers featuring the symbol of the mahogany tree planted around the campus and the contributions of mothers.

In order to cultivate the next generation, mahogany trees drop all of their leaves to prevent the seeds from jamming the small branches, enabling them to fly farther and settling down in a better place.

Being surrounded with mahogany, the tree with the symbol of motherhood, the students and school staff use the leaves, fruits, and the seeds to make the handicraft. Written by Lien Jian-nan, the Director of Educational & Student Affairs, and illustrated by the painter Su Ya-wen, the picture book has also been translated into English and Vietnamese.
