2015 Hakka Tung Flower Festival starts from April 4 to May 17

2015 Hakka Tung Flower Festival held by Hakka Affairs Council officially started from April 4 to May 17. The opening ceremony will be held at New Era Art Resort & SPA in Nantou County. There are a series of activities highlighting Hakka culture’s features, simpleness, hospitality, and prosperity.

Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun and Hakka Affairs Minister Liu Ching-chung on April 1 jointly participated in a press conference to announce the event of Hakka Tung Flower Festival. Chiu Ching-chun stressed that the Hakka people’s hard-working attitude is the core value of Hakka spirit. He invited visitors to enjoy the beauty of Tung flowers and experience the spirit of Hakka culture.

Liu Ching-chung said that the Tung Flower Festival combined with culture and creative industry, offering landscape, culture, industry, and art performances to all visitors. Hakka culture’s beauty and natural scene needed to be fully promoted, Liu added. Tung flowers usually bloom around March to May in Taiwan. Trees in fourteen counties around Taiwan will be covered in snow-white blossoms.

Another main activity held by Hakka Affairs Council and Hsinchu County Government will start from April 18 at Hexing railway station in Hsinchu County. Participants can view Tung flower blooming while joining the running event. Besides, famous singers and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra will give excellent performance as well.
