China Airlines wins 2015 Red Dot Design Award

Taipei, March 31 (CNA) China Airlines has won a 2015 Red Dot Design Award for its new Boeing 777-300ER cabin design, which combines Taiwanese culture and the aesthetics of everyday life in the East, a company spokesman said Tuesday. The carrier was one of only 81 out of 4,928 entries that won the "Best of the Best" Red Dot award in the product design category, which honors groundbreaking design and represents the top Red Dot prize. China Airlines was honored for the design of its business class cabin and seat, the first time an airline's business class cabin had earned the top Red Dot award. Its Sky Lounge design also won a Red Dot award. China Airlines Chairman Sun Huang-hsiang will attend the awards ceremony in Essen, Germany in June, the spokesman said. Now in their 60th year, the Red Dot Design Awards are one of the world's largest and most distinguished design competitions. About 15,000 participations from more than 70 nations submit their entries for the internationally sought-after Red Dot every year.
