Discovery Channel to air Lee Kuan Yew documentary

The Discovery Channel will televise a documentary on Lee Kuan Yew on March 28 as a tribute to the late founding father of Singapore.
The one-hour special, "Father of a Nation: Lee Kuan Yew," chronicles Lee's life from his birth and student days to his founding of the People's Action Party and the eight elections that the party won, according to the Discovery Channel.
The documentary also shows how Lee met his wife Kwa Geok Choo and their love story, according to the channel.
The documentary will air in Taiwan on March 28 at 11 p.m. The former prime minister of Singapore was known for his iron-fisted rule and for transforming Singapore from a small port city into a wealthy global financial and business hub.
Under his decades of rule, Singapore achieved economic prosperity and was admired for its low level of corruption, but freedom of speech and political opposition were tightly restricted. (By Christie Chen)
