Urban Death Project seeks to compost dead humans to feed the crops

According to the Daily Mail, corpses could soon be turned into compost and used as plant food if a radical new plan to offer a new way to bury the dead succeeds.

Called the Urban Death Project, it proposes corpses are placed into a giant tower by families and left to decompose.

The advocate behind the project, a Seattle architect named Katrina Spade, hopes it will create a new and more eco-friendly way to dispose of the dead.

At the heart of the project is a three-story core, within which bodies and high-carbon materials are placed.

Over the span of a few months, with the help of aerobic decomposition and microbial activity, the bodies decompose fully, leaving a rich compost.
