Taiwanese company to expand globally by diversifying into baked goods

Taipei, March 22 (CNA) Taiwan's listed food and beverage provider La Kaffa International Co. Ltd., (????), is diversifying its business into overseas bakery products through its Bake Code (????) Bakery & Cafe brand, a company spokesman said on Sunday. La Kaffa, which is famous for its affiliate Chatime (????), the global leader in the bubble tea industry with over 450 outlets worldwide, has long considered the U.S. a priority in overseas expansion, according to the spokesman. The company opened its first overseas Bake Code store in San Gabriel, Southern California on Saturday and plans to add four more outlets in the western U.S. in the second half of this year in a bid to enhance the brand's international profile and duplicate its successful business model in other states, the spokesman said. The Bake Code store located at San Gabriel Square (????), covers an area of 3,000 square feet and has 66 seats. In the second half of this year, the company will increase its presence by opening stores in New York City, Maryland and Florida, the spokesman added. The Bake Code brand was created in 2014 and mainly sells soft French and European bread products, targeting middle to high income consumers. In the domestic market, La Kaffa recently opened two Bake Code & Cafe stores in Hsinchu in northrn Taiwan and will continue to add new stores around the country. Having collaborated with partners in Southeast Asia to develop other bakery brands, the company is now seeking to tap into the U.S. market in an effort to expand the Bake Code brand globally.
