CPC, FPC cut gas and diesel prices

Taipei, March 22 (CNA) State-run oil refiner CPC Corp., Taiwan (CPC, ????) said on Sunday it would cut domestic gasoline prices by NT$0.8 per liter and diesel prices by NT$0.9 per liter, starting Monday, following a price cut on Sunday by privately-run Formosa Petrochemical Corp. (FPC, ????), its only local competitor. The cuts reflect falling global crude oil prices. After the downward adjustment, CPC will charge NT$23.7, NT$25.2 and NT$27.2 per liter for 92-octane, 95-octane and 98-octane unleaded gasoline and NT$21.7 per liter for premium diesel. FPC announced on Saturday that it would cut prices on both gasoline and diesel Sunday by NT$0.8 per liter and NT$0.9 per liter, respectively. After the cut its prices are NT$23.6, NT$25.1 and NT$27.4 per liter for 92-octane, 95-octane and 98-octane unleaded gasoline and NT$21.3 per liter for premium diesel. CPC adjusts domestic oil prices every week in accordance with its floating oil price formula -- which is made up of 70 percent Dubai crude and 30 percent Brent crude oil. (By Evelyn Kao)
