VietJet takes 70 passengers on free flight to Ho Chi Minh City

Taipei, March 20 (CNA) Budget carrier VietJet Air on Friday offered a free flight to 70 passengers, flying them from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei to Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate a new air link it said would enhance cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam.
Passengers on the special flight nicknamed "Spread the Love" also enjoyed half-priced return tickets, according to the airline. The lucky passengers were selected from an online campaign in which the Vietnamese carrier asked over 1,000 participants to submit their stories about Vietnam. The budget carrier currently operates five round-trip flights per week between the two destinations and is likely to increase that number to seven starting this summer, it said. The airline is also planning to open new routes from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Taichung, in central Taiwan, as well as Kaohsiung, in the south. VietJet, the 16th low-cost carrier to operate in Taiwan, started its services between the two countries last December. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
