Taiwan, Canadian province sign MOU on driver's license reciprocity

Taipei, March 17 (CNA) Taiwan and the Canadian province of Alberta have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on driver's license reciprocity that will allow license-holders from each side to apply for licenses without having to take local tests, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday. The MOU was signed March 3 and the two sides will soon announce measures to implement the new policy, said Kelly Hsieh (???), director-general of the ministry's Department of North American Affairs, at a regular news briefing. Alberta, located in western Canada, is the fifth Canadian province to have signed an agreement on driver's license reciprocity with Taiwan, following the provinces of Quebec, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, the ministry said. In addition to Canada, Taiwan has also signed agreements on driver's license reciprocity with nine states in the United States -- Mississippi, Maryland, Idaho, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Delaware and Washington, according to the ministry.
