Taiwan's Taoyuan airport named as having the best airport staff

Taipei, March 13 (CNA) Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has been named as having the world's best airport staff in the 2015 World Airport Awards organized by Skytrax, a British consultancy that runs an airline and airport review and ranking site. The Taoyuan airport, Taiwan's main international gateway, was followed in the category by Haneda Airport in Japan and Incheon International Airport in South Korea, according to the rankings compiled by Skytrax. Fei Hourng-jiun (???), chief executive officer of Taoyuan Airport Corp., received the award at a ceremony in Paris on March 11 held as part of the Passenger Terminal Expo. The award for Best Airport Staff Service recognizes airport workers who come in contact with travelers across many different functions, such as airport customer service staff, airport guides, shop and restaurant workers, and security staff, Skytrax said. The Taoyuan airport also ranked as the 17th best airport in the world, up one notch from last year, and as the third best airport in the world among those handling 30 million to 40 million passengers a year. Singapore's Changi Airport repeated as the world's best airport, and Munich Airport, ranked third overall in the world, was the highest ranked airport in the 30 million to 40 million passenger category. Aside from topping the best airport staff category, the Taoyuan airport also finished in the top 10 for best airport for transit passengers (sixth), best airport shopping (ninth), best airport immigration (second), best airport security (fourth), best baggage delivery (fourth) and best airport for leisure amenities (eighth). Considered among the most prestigious accolades in the industry, the World Airport Awards are based on the votes of travelers in an annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The survey and awards process is independent of any airport influence or interference in the final results. A total of 13.02 million customers across 112 nationalities participated in the survey, which was conducted from May 2014 to January 2015 and covered 550 airports worldwide. The survey evaluates customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service, from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, to departure at the gate.
