Saving water through the period of water shortage

At the end of February, many areas around Taiwan entered phase-two water rationing, including Linkou, Banqiao, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and so on for the continuing of water crisis. As a result, how to save household water becomes an important topic.

The average water consumption per person per day is around 300 liters, with 70 percent used for flush and shower, and 20 percent for cooking. In appeals to residents, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Hsinchu calls for cherishing water resources to tide over the difficult period of drought.

There are many ways to save water. For example, noodle or rice washing water can be used for washing dishes or watering flowers, vegetables washing water for cleaning floor or flushing the toilet. Moreover, remember not to last more than 5 minutes when taking a shower, and remember to turn off the faucet when applying soap. In a word, it is important for every person to use the reusable water effectively, and don’t waste every drop of water.

People can go on the website of the Taiwan Water Corporation for more information about water conservation, and the Public Works Department of Hsinchu City Government reminds residents that there is the reusable water available for people at the water resource center. Saving water is not only to help us passing the time of drought, but also to help protecting our environment and reducing pollution, the department said.
