New Taipei mayor promotes tourism in Singapore

Singapore, March 7 (CNA) New Taipei Mayor Eric Chu (???) attended the NATAS travel fair in Singapore Saturday to promote Taiwan tourism. Chu appeared at the Taiwan Pavilion and at a booth set up jointly by the New Taipei city government and EVA Airways to greet visitors and give away gift bags. He also invited people to visit Taiwan and New Taipei. Many locals lined up to have their photos taken with the friendly and accessible mayor. Expressing confidence in the potential of Taiwan tourism, Chu said the number of visitors to Taiwan is expected to top 10 million this year after reaching 9.8 million last year. Over 300,000 Singaporeans traveled to Taiwan in 2014, he said. The mayor also said he was able to meet many old friends in Singapore over the past two days and said he believed that the friendship between Taiwan and Singapore will continue to grow.
