New Taipei mayor to visit Singapore, Hong Kong

Taipei, Feb. 28 (CNA) New Taipei Mayor Eric Chu will visit Singapore and Hong Kong next month to enhance travel and economic exchanges, the city said Saturday.
Chu will depart on March 6 for a biannual travel fair in Singapore, where New Taipei will work with taxi drivers there and Taiwanese airline EVA Airways to promote travel to the northern Taiwan metropolitan area.
He will hold a press conference on the day he arrives and then join tourism operators on the following day to promote tourist destinations along Taiwan's northeastern coast and mountainous attractions including Wulai and Jiufen. Chu, who also serves as chairman of the Kuomintang, will become the first head of the party to visit Hong Kong when he arrives there on March 8. He is visiting the special administrative region in his capacity as New Taipei mayor.
On March 9, Chu will give a speech at the invitation of the Taiwan Hong Kong Forum on exchanges between the two sides and on economic development. (By Sunrise Huang and Lee Hsin-Yin)
