Mercury forecast to drop significantly

Taipei, Feb. 27 (CNA) A cold front could start affecting Taiwan Sunday, with northern parts of the country likely to see daytime highs plunging by 6-8 degrees Celsius, the Central Weather Bureau said Friday. Central and southern Taiwan might not be affected as much, but could experience rain, along with northern Taiwan, according to forecasters. Temperatures could range between 13-18 degrees in northern Taiwan, 16-24 degrees in central Taiwan and 17-26 degrees in southern Taiwan, the bureau said. The colder weather is likely to continue into Monday, when lows might drop to 12-15 degrees in areas of northern and central Taiwan, it said. Milder weather with mostly cloudy to sunny skies is expected from next Tuesday, the bureau said, adding that highs could return to 23-26 degrees across the country. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
