Cloud Gate performers travel on liveried aircraft

Taipei, Feb. 25 (CNA) A China Airlines (CAL) aircraft liveried with a design featuring the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, one of Taiwan's most prestigious art groups, took the dancers to an art festival in Singapore Wednesday, the first time the group had used the unique aircraft. Thirty-seven Cloud Gate dancers, led by founder and artistic director Lin Hwai-min (???), said they were both excited and honored to get aboard the plane, which is designed to spread the message of Taiwan's cultural development. "Cloud Gate is happy to partner with CAL," Lin said. "Hopefully (we) can create a beautiful namecard for Taiwan." The Airbus A330-300 jet, which also features Cloud Gate videos and art designs in its cabin, will carry the troupe to Singapore's Chinese Festival of Arts taking place Feb. 20- March 1, the airline said. The aircraft is currently used on routes serving mainly American, European and Oceanian destinations, according to Taiwan's largest carrier. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
