STELLENBOSCH, South Africa (AP) -- Officials from Durban's bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games will travel to London this weekend to discuss their plans.
The South African city is the only candidate to host the multi-sports event.
South African officials, including the minister of sport, will make a 20-minute presentation to the Commonwealth Games Federation's executive committee in London on Monday, the deadline for the lodging of bids.
With no other options, Durban, on South Africa's east coast, will likely be chosen as the first African city to hold the Commonwealth Games when the 2022 host is announced at the CGF General Assembly in New Zealand in September.
Edmonton, Canada -- the only other bidder -- withdrew this month citing financial difficulties caused by falling oil prices.
