Motorcyclist hits barricade to presidential residence

Taipei, Feb. 23 (CNA) A motorcyclist collided with a barricade in front of President Ma Ying-jeou's official residence in downtown Tapei Monday afternoon. Police said the woman seemed to be in a trance when the accident occurred at around 1 p.m. After investigation, police said it was a pure accident. Earlier that morning, a man crashed his car into an area in front of the Presidential Office in downtown Taipei. Police said he was simply trying to get hold of his cellphone to take a picture. The 39-year-old man, surnamed Lin, crashed his SUV into a stone platform used to bear decorative flowers at around 6:42 a.m. while driving on Ketagalan Boulevard, police said.
