Taiwanese tourist dies in Philippines (update)

Manila, Feb. 22 (CNA) A Taiwanese tourist has died while vacationing in southwestern Philippines, Taiwan's representative office in the Philippines said Sunday. The office said that it received an urgent call at around 1:20 a.m. Sunday asking for assistance after the man, surnamed Yeh (?), died in Palawan during a five-day trip to the island province as a part of a tour group that began Friday.
The incident took place at around 10 a.m. during a snorkeling activity at a scenic beach in Puerto Princesa, the province's capital. The man, around 60 years old, was pronounced dead at a hospital around 11 a.m., according to initial reports. He was traveling with his family members. The cause of his death is still under investigation, as reports that he drowned seem unlikely due to the shallow level of the water, indicating he may have died from heart failure instead, according to Taiwan's office in the country.
The office has contacted relevant agencies in the Philippines to help in taking care of the aftermath. According to regulations in the Philippines, Yeh's body may need to be cremated before being brought back to Taiwan. (By Emerson Lim and Lilian Wu)
