EVA Air recruiting 500 new staff members

Taipei, Feb. 16 (CNA) EVA Airways (????), one of Taiwan's leading international carriers, said Monday it will hire 500 new employees this year as part of a plan to expand capacity and increase its number of destinations. The airline said it is now accepting applications to fill positions for 400 flight attendants and 100 new ground service and office staff, including financial and computer experts, who will all begin work between June and August. The new ground service and office staff will be assigned to Taoyuan International Airport, the company's offices in Taipei and its headquarters in Nankang, Taoyuan, it said in a press release. The requirements are excellent physical condition, good foreign language skills, patience, and enthusiasm to provide good passenger service, EVA said. The airline is offering a starting salary of NT$50,000 (US$1,587) per month, including allowances, for flight attendants, and NT$30,000 to NT$40,000 for ground service and office staff. EVA Air has said that it is planning to launch new routes this year between Taoyuan and Houston, Kaohsiung and Osaka, and Kaohsiung and Fukuoka. The carrier is also expected to increase the number of flights between Taoyuan and the international cities of Seattle, Houston, Toronto, Vancouver, Bangkok, and Singapore, while raise the number of flights between Kaohsiung and Osaka abd Hakodate. As part of its expansion plan, EVA said, it will take delivery of 11 new Boeing 777-300ERs, two Airbus A300-300s and 12 A321-200s over the next two years. Like other international carriers, EVA Air has been benefiting from falling international crude oil prices, which have helped to strengthen its bottom line, according to market analysts. EVA Air is rated as the third safest carrier in the world, after Cathay Pacific Airways and Emirates, according to the recently released 2015 rankings by Germany's AERO International Magazine. According to a recent survey by 1111 Job Bank, the airline is the top choice for Taiwan job seekers. Last year, EVA's recruitment campaign for 700 staff members attracted 22,000 applicants.
