ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) -- Virat Kohli produced a big innings when it really counted, scoring 107 Sunday to guide India to 300-7 in its World Cup Pool B opener against archrival Pakistan.

Kohli shook off a run of low ODI scores in the buildup to the tournament, going to the crease with India at 34-1 and sharing stands of 129 with Shikhar Dhawan (73) and 110 with Suresh Raina (74) before he was caught behind off Sohail Khan in the 46th over, triggering a flurry of late wickets. He was the first Indian batsman to score a century against Pakistan in a World Cup match.

Khan returned 5-55.

Defending champion India has won all five of its previous World Cup matches against 1992 champion Pakistan.
