Registration for the DPP 2016 presidential primary kicks off Thursday morning at 9am. The party posted an official notice at its Taipei headquarters Wednesday afternoon, and DPP spokesman Cheng Yun-peng made an announcement at 1pm calling for candidates to sign up. Cheng said registration would be open for five days, from February 12 to 16, and all interested candidates must pay a registration fee of NT$4 million plus a poll fee of NT$1 million to cover the costs of opinion polls to be conducted during the campaign.
Cheng noted that all candidates in the presidential primary must have joined the party on or before March 19, 2014, and must have been an active member of the party for at least two years. Registration is open each day from 9:00am to 12 noon and 13:30 to 17:00pm.
Cheng stressed that the registration and polling fees must be paid at the time of registration and urged all party members who are seriously interest in contesting for the nomination and working for the future of the Taiwanese people to sign up.
