Two more bodies found in TransAsia crash: CAA

Taipei, Feb. 11 (CNA) Two more bodies from last week's TransAsia Airways (????) crash were found Wednesday afternoon about 700 meters from the crash site, bringing the death toll to 42 and leaving only one person unaccounted for, according to the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA). The bodies were found in the Keelung River underneath the Nanhu Bridge downstream from where the ATR 72-600 plane crashed en route to Kinmen shortly after takeoff from nearby Songshan Airport. The identities of the two bodies were not immediately clear, the CAA said. Investigations are continuing into the crash of Flight GE235 with 58 people onboard on Feb. 4. TransAsia said earlier Wednesday that it is prepared to give family members of those killed in the crash NT$14.9 million (US$497,000) each, tying the largest amount of compensation offered after an air crash in Taiwan, though the offer has been turned down. The airline offered the same amount of money after another one of its ATR turboprop planes crashed in Penghu on July 23 last year, killing 48 of the 58 people onboard. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
