Taipei, Feb. 4 (CNA) Celebrities in Taiwan took to social media sites Wednesday to pray for the victims of the deadly TransAsia Airways plane crash that had left at least 23 passengers and crew dead as of press time. "Let us pray for everyone on TransAsia Airways flight GE-235. I hope everyone can be safely rescued and that the injured are safe. I hope they get well soon," pop diva A-mei (??) wrote on her Facebook page. "God bless!!!" singer Jolin Tsai (???)also wrote on her Facebook page. "I hope the casualty numbers will not increase any more! God bless, it's heartaching!" actress and singer Barbie Hsu (???) wrote on her Facebook page. Actresses Amber Kuo, Cheryl Yang, Ruby Lin and Shu Qi were also among the celebrities who offered their condolences to the victims. The aircraft, which was carrying five crew members and 53 passengers, including 31 Chinese tourists, crashed shortly after taking off from Taipei's Songshan Airport at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday en route to Kinmen. A total of 23 people had been confirmed dead as of 6:45 p.m., with a further 16 injured and the rest unaccounted for. Rescue efforts are ongoing. (By Christie Chen)
