President calls on Master Hsing Yun

Kaohsiung, Jan. 31 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou (???) called on Master Hsing Yun (????), founder of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple, during a visit to the southern city of Kaohsiung Saturday. After a one-hour meeting, Hsing Yun told reporters that he suggested Ma try to win back the hearts of the people after his party, the Kuomintang, suffered huge losses in the Nov. 29 local elections. The master said that President Ma must win back support from both party members and those who have left the party because of different views. "The (opposition) Democratic Progressive Party is also a friend," he told the president, adding that "there should be no enemies in politics and no confrontation" to bring about peace and harmony.
