Cold air mass to bring temperatures down: weather bureau

Taipei, Jan. 29 (CNA) An approaching cold air mass is likely to bring the mercury down in northern and northeastern Taiwan from Friday, and increasing moisture is expected to cause showers in those regions, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB, ???) said Thursday. Daytime lows could slide to 11 degrees Celsius there, while highs are likely to be 18-19 degrees, forecasters said. The cold air mass, however, is not likely to cause much of an impact in central and southern Taiwan, where the mercury could range between 14 and 22 degrees. The effects of the cold air mass might ease from Feb. 2, the bureau said, adding that warmer and drier weather is expected through Feb. 4. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
