SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- Ten people are missing after a Chinese fishing boat sank in international waters near the South Korean resort island of Jeju.
Jeju coast guard official Koh Kwang-sick said Friday that 13 people were on the boat when it sank about 160 kilometers (100 miles) west of the southern island on Thursday evening. Survivors said it collided with a cargo ship.
Koh said that crew members of another nearby Chinese fishing boat rescued three people from the sinking boat.
Koh says three South Korean coast guard and naval vessels and a coast guard helicopter have been searching the area since early Friday but have found only an empty lifeboat.
