Bundesliga increases revenue for 10th straight season

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- The Bundesliga has increased revenues for the 10th straight season, with 13 of 18 clubs making a profit in the 2013-14 season.

The figures released on Thursday show the Bundesliga's revenue rising to 2.45 billion euros ($2.85 billion), a jump of 12.9 percent of the previous season.

The revenue growth was not invested entirely in player salaries. Payroll costs for players relative to revenues of the clubs dropped to an average of 36.8 percent from 42.4 percent the previous season. The European average is 65 percent, according to UEFA.

The players still earned 53 million euros ($61.58 million) more, totaling 900 million euros ($1.045 billion).

The Bundesliga employs more than 48,000 people.

Champion Bayern Munich is the biggest club, with earnings of 487.5 million euros ($566.38 million) last season.
