Cold air mass brings more snow to mountains

Taipei, Jan. 21 (CNA) Some mountainous areas of Taiwan saw more snow Wednesday due to abundant moisture and low temperatures caused by the onset of a cold air mass, the Central Weather Bureau said that day.
Yushan, the tallest peak in Taiwan, saw 0.5 centimeters of snow at 5:20 a.m. after an overnight flurry, forecasters said. Hehuan Mountain experienced snow at 4 a.m., leaving 5 centimeters on the ground.
The bureau said there are chances for the two mountains to see more snow during the day thanks to the cold air mass, which is expected to send temperatures plummeting below 10 degrees Celsius in northern and central Taiwan through Friday. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
