LONDON (AP) -- All Blacks prop Ben Franks signed a three-year deal with English Premiership club London Irish on Tuesday.
Since his test debut for New Zealand in 2010, Franks has been an indispensable backup, able to prop both sides, and often joining younger brother Owen in matches. Of his 41 caps, only six are starts, but he was part of the Rugby World Cup-winning squad in 2011.
He has played 112 Super Rugby matches, for the Crusaders and, for the last three years, the Hurricanes.
"(London Irish) is a family friendly club, which played a big part in my decision to move my family over, and London Irish also had a link with St. Mary's University, where I will be able to study alongside playing rugby for the club," Franks said in a statement.
