Taiwanese goods to be showcased at Asian-American Expo

Los Angeles, Jan. 9 (CNA) A total of 28 Taiwan-based companies will display their products at a two-day Asian American Expo that kicks off on Jan. 17 in Pomona, California, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles said Friday. According to the representative office, the 28 Taiwanese exhibitors will showcase 115 products in the Taiwan pavilion to build contacts with potential buyers and pursue new business. The 28 Taiwanese exhibitors include PC brands Acer Inc., Asustek Computer Inc. and Micro-Star International Corp., water heater and kitchen equipment supplier Taiwan Sakura Corp., glass art brand Liuligongfang, and memory card maker and USB flash drive maker Adata Technology Co. Most of the Taiwanese exhibitors are from the computer, consumer electronics and communications (3C) sector, which represents the bulk of Taiwan's exports, the Los Angeles representative office said. Steve C.C. Hsia, head of the Los Angeles representative office, said other Taiwanese products at the show will span the sports and leisure, home and lifestyle, and health care sectors, among others. It will be the second time Taiwan is participating in the Asian American Expo, which is recognized as one of the five biggest trade shows in the Los Angeles area and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. Hsia said his office, the Bureau of Foreign Trade, and the government-sponsored Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) worked together to set up a Taiwan pavilion at the show for the first time last year, and it drew a positive responsive.
Yen Mu-sung, head of the TAITRA's office in Los Angeles, said the Taiwan pavilion will not only exhibit tangible products from Taiwan but also give potential buyers a sense of the country's spirit and boldness. (By Oscar Wu and Frances Huang)
