Warmer weather forecast next week

Taipei, Jan. 10 (CNA) The cold weather Taiwan has seen over the past few days could ease up from Sunday, with both highs and lows expected to rise by up to 2 degrees Celsius islandwide in the following week, the Central Weather Bureau said Saturday. While Sunday morning could still be chilly due to a cold air mass, with lows lingering at 11 degrees in northern and central Taiwan, the weather could become warmer during the day, forecasters said. Highs are expected at 19-21 degrees in northern and eastern Taiwan, while other areas could see maximum temperatures hit 22-25 degrees, the bureau said. There could be showers in eastern Taiwan and mountainous areas in northern Taiwan, it added. The milder weather could prevail into the week, with lows between Monday and Wednesday forecast at 13-15 degrees across the country, according to the bureau. However, due to increasing moisture, mostly cloudy to rainy weather is likely in northern and eastern Taiwan during this period, the bureau said. (By Angela Tsai and Lee Hsin-Yin)
