Weather across Taiwan forecast to turn colder from Wednesday

Taipei, Jan. 5 (CNA) The mild weather that Taiwan experienced over the weekend will last until Wednesday, when a cold air mass is expected to bring rain and lower temperatures, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Monday. It said daytime highs on Monday and Tuesday will remain relatively high at 25-26 degrees Celsius in northern and central Taiwan, and 27-28 degrees in southern Taiwan. Lows are expected to hover between 12 and 16 degrees along the western side of the island, and 15-17 degrees on the eastern side, the bureau said. During the two days, skies will remain mostly sunny islandwide, except in eastern Taiwan where showers are likely, the bureau said. From Wednesday to Saturday, however, a cold air mass is likely to start affecting Taiwan, causing daytime temperatures to drop to around 17 degrees in northern Taiwan, 20 degrees in central Taiwan, and 21 degrees in southern Taiwan, the CWB said. Rain and increased humidity can also be expected in northern and northeastern Taiwan from Wednesday, according to the CWB. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
