SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns and the Bruins held on for a 40-35 win over Kansas State in college football's Alamo Bowl on Friday.

In the day's other bowl games, Houston quarterback Greg Ward led a late comeback to stun Pittsburgh 35-34 in the Armed Forces Bowl, Oklahoma State held off Washington 30-22 in the Cactus Bowl and Tennessee defeated Iowa 45-28 in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

UCLA (10-3) jumped out to 31-6 halftime lead, but Kansas State (9-4) scored 22 of the first 25 points in the second half, cutting the lead to 34-28 on quarterback Jake Waters' 1-yard run with 4:54 left.

After Paul Perkins countered for UCLA with a 67-yard run with 2:20 to go, Waters threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett to pull within five with just over a minute remaining. UCLA recovered the onside kick, however, and ran out the clock.

Perkins ran for 194 yards on 20 carries for UCLA.

Waters was 31 of 48 for 338 yards, but was sacked seven times, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.

In the Armed Forces Bowl, Ward threw three touchdown passes in the final 3:41, two after Houston recovered onside kicks, and completed a 2-point conversion as the Cougars matched the third-largest comeback victory in a bowl game.

Pittsburgh (6-7) took a 31-6 lead on James Conner's touchdown run with 14 minutes left, but Houston scored 29 points in the final quarter to eke out the victory.

Ward started the comeback with an 8-yard TD pass to Deontay Greenberry with 3:41 left on the clock. The Cougars then recovered their first onside kick and Ward teamed with Demarcus Ayers on a 29-yard scoring play on fourth-and-13 with 1:58 left.

Kenneth Farrow jumped on Houston's second onside kick at the Cougars 43 and Ward connected with Greenberry again for a touchdown from 25 yards with 59 seconds remaining. Coach David Gibbs then opted for a win-or-lose 2-point conversion try, and Greenberry made a leaping catch in the back corner of the end zone.

Ward was 15 of 24 for 274 yards, with 237 coming in the fourth quarter. He also ran for 92 yards.

Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns and Desmond Roland ran for 123 yards to lead the Cowboys to victory in the Cactus Bowl.

Oklahoma State (7-6) dominated Washington (8-6) on both sides of the ball to take a 17-point halftime lead.

Rudolph was poised in his third career start, shrugging off three turnovers to hit 17 of 26 passes. Defensive tackle James Castleman even got in on the offensive action with a 1-yard touchdown run and 48-yard reception.

In the TaxSlayer Bowl, Joshua Dobbs accounted for three touchdowns and Jalen Hurd ran for two scores to lead Tennessee to its first postseason victory since 2008.

Tennessee (7-6) scored on its first four possessions, leading 28-0 before Iowa (7-6) managed 70 yards.

Dobbs completed 16 of 21 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown and ran for 76 yards and two scores.
