Taipei, Dec. 31 (CNA) An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale shook northeastern Taiwan at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Central Weather Bureau. The earthquake struck in Toucheng Township about 18.2 kilometers north of the Yilan County government office complex at a depth of 67.7 km, the bureau's Seismology Center said. The strongest tremors, which had intensity readings of 3 on Taiwan's 0-7 seismic intensity scale, were felt in Nanao, Luodong and Niudou in Yilan County.
