Taiwanese delegation to attend investment summit in India

Taipei, Dec. 30 (CNA) Taiwan will send a delegation to an investment summit in India next month, as part of its efforts to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, an official from Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Tuesday. The delegation will comprise officials from the ministries of economic and foreign affairs and business representatives, said Elliott Charng, director general of the MOFA's Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. "The business representatives on the delegation are mainly from the electronics, shipbuilding and textile industries," he said at a regular news briefing. During the Jan. 10-14 visit to India, the delegation will also take the opportunity to explore further cooperation with India's government and private sector, Charng said. The investment summit will be held Jan. 11-13 in the highly industrialized state of Gujarat, which stretches 1,600 kilometers along India's west coast. (By Elaine Hou)
