Taipei, Dec. 29 (CNA) The Ministry of National Defense's R&D unit confirmed Monday that it is planning to develop an advanced version of the Tien Kung III (Sky Bow III) surface-to-air defense missile system and a 3D surveillance radar system. Chang Kuan-chuan, president of the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology, told legislators that the missile system is one of the institute's 10 technology development projects for 2015 that will cost a combined NT$2.78 billion. The Point Defense Array Radar System (PODARS), meanwhile, is one of 121 projects commissioned by the military that will cost NT$17.46 billion, Chang said.
