Realtek October revenue to new low since April

Taiwan-based IC design house Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (2379) released its October earnings report before market hours Wednesday. The company posted its consolidated revenue for October of NT$2.50 billion (US$84 million), reaching a new monthly low since April this year and representing a monthly decline of 12.3 percent but a yearly growth of 14.6 percent.

Huang Yee-Wei, Realtek Vice President and Spokesperson, stated that the fourth quarter is a traditional slow season for the global IC industry and a slow growth momentum is also expected. Some foreign and institutional investors estimated that the company’s revenue for Q4 might decline by 5-10 percent on quarter.

The company attributed the slow growth momentum in Q4 to the late coming of the Lunar New Year, which is the peak shopping season for the Chinese community, in late February of 2015. It also means a delayed preparation for stocking and lack of contributions for Q4 operation this year, while the income from company’s liquidation of ISSC Technologies Corp. (261) shares might be recognized between Q4 of 2014 and Q1 of 2015 to contribute earnings in its slow seasons.
