HTC Desire EYE, Desire 820 pre-orders sold out in 20 minutes

The day after its release in Taipei, HTC Desire EYE and Desire 820, the latest flagship phones manufactured by Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC, made a good beginning on pre-orders sales, with the former sold out in 5 minutes and the latter in 20 minutes. These two models are expected to bring back growth momentum for the company this year.

On the same day, HTC has introduced into the China market a Desire 820 large-screen smartphone version that uses a core processor from MediaTek Inc., the leading supplier of chips for Chinese smartphones.

In a move away from HTC's long-time partner Qualcomm Inc., the Desire 820 is powered by MediaTek's MT6752 chipset, which has eight 64-bit enabled processors and a clock rate of 1.7GHz, according to HTC.
