TSMC says Sept sales up 35.1% yoy, hitting another record high

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) (2330), the world's largest contract chip maker, posted its consolidated revenue of approximately NT$74.85 billion (US$2.46 billion) for September 2014, an increase of 8.0% on month and 35.1% on year. TSMC revenues for January through September 2014 totaled NT$540.29 billion, an increase of 19.7 percent compared to the same period in 2013, according to the company’s statement.

On the back of the iPhone 6 hot sales pushing demand for 20-nano iPhone 6 chips, TSMC revenue for September reaches a record high for the third consecutive month. The company’s Q3 revenue also jumped 14.2% to NT$209.05 billion on quarter.

TSMC shares ended more than 2% higher at NT$125 per share on Thursday as investors were expecting that the contract chip maker would report strong sales data for the third quarter.
