Enterprises enthusiastic about recruitment: job bank

Taipei, Oct. 8 (CNA) Job openings posted on the 104 Job Bank as of the end of September hit a record high, indicating that enterprises in Taiwan remain enthusiastic about recruiting new employees, the online recruitment agency said Wednesday. 104 Job Bank, one of Taiwan's leading online human resource agencies, said that a total of 592,000 job openings were posted on its website as of September, up 30.8 percent from a year earlier. The vacancies included full-time and part-time jobs, with many companies seeking people to fill mid-and high-level management positions. Citing survey results, the job bank said the 104 recruitment index for October reached 191.3, up from 185.5 recorded in September and also up from 143.2 registered over the same period of last year. In October, the recruitment sub-indexes in the electronics sector, the old economy sector and the services sector registered a more-than 3 percent month-on-month increase. The electronics sector even topped the other two in the index growth. In the electronics sector, electronic component and optoelectronics firms appeared more eager to find staff, with the recruitment sub-indexes in those two segments up more than 5 percent from a month earlier, 104 Job Bank said. In the old economy sector, chemical and petrochemical firms and consumer goods producers also showed enthusiasm in filling vacancies, with the recruitment sub-indexes in the two segments up more than 4 percent from a month ago, the agency said. In the services sector, the recruitment sub-indexes in the warehousing/transportation and restaurant segments rose 3 percent and 7 percent, respectively, from a month earlier, the agency added. However, the sub-index in the financial and related sectors continued to trend lower, and the figure for October fell about 3 percent from a month earlier, the job bank said.
